1. You are close to your ideal weight
Fat dissolving works best on patients who are at or near a healthy weight but have one or more stubborn areas that do not respond to lifestyle changes. The classic example is a double chin on someone who is otherwise lean, or persistent love handles on someone who exercises regularly. The treatment refines and contours — it does not replace the need for a healthy weight foundation.
2. You have a localised, defined fat deposit
The best candidates have a clearly identifiable pocket of fat in a specific area: beneath the chin, along the jawline, around the abdomen, flanks, inner thighs, upper arms, or bra line. Fat dissolving performs best where there is a discrete deposit that can be targeted precisely. Diffuse fat spread across a large area responds less predictably.
3. You have good skin elasticity
Skin laxity is one of the most important factors in candidacy. When fat dissolving reduces volume in an area, the skin needs to contract around the new contour. Patients with good skin elasticity — typically younger patients, or those whose skin has retained its natural firmness — see the cleanest results. Where significant skin laxity is already present, reducing the underlying fat volume can worsen rather than improve the appearance. Your practitioner will assess this at consultation.
4. Your expectations are realistic
Fat dissolving produces gradual, progressive results over several weeks. Final results from a course of treatment are visible at around 6 to 8 weeks after the last session, and most patients require 2 to 4 sessions to achieve their goal. Candidates who understand this timeline — and are not expecting dramatic transformation from a single session — tend to be most satisfied with their outcomes.
5. You are in good general health
Fat dissolving is a minimally invasive procedure, but good general health is still a baseline requirement. No active skin infections, inflammatory conditions in the treatment area, or bleeding disorders should be present. A full medical history review takes place at every consultation at Dr Hass Clinic.
6. You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
Fat dissolving is not suitable during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. If either applies, treatment should be deferred until it does not.
